The term "panel" is widely used in medicine in the USA to refer to a group of related tests.
There are several tests related to thyroid - not just the TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) test. They include:
- Free Thyroxine (Free T4, FT4)
- Free Triiodothyronine (Free T3, FT3)
- Thyroglobulin antibodies (TGab)
- Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies (TPOab)
- TSH Receptor antibodies (TRab)
The above would usually be considered a reasonable set of tests though TRab would almost never be run unless Graves disease was being considered. And it is possible you would see Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI) instead of, or even as well as, TRab. And Thyroglobulin itself (not just antibodies) in the context of thyroid cancers.
That is very much NOT suggesting these are the only thyroid-related tests as there are many more. But these are the common tests.
Within the UK health system, FT3 and TGab are not often performed because their value is questioned.
